Intro to Couponing

If you want to start couponing. but dont know where to start, I can help you!

1-Organization HELPS!- In order to find your coupons quickly and be effective with your coupons, you must be organized. This means using a binder, using an accordian file or keeping all inserts together organized in a file box. I choose to use a 3 ring zippered binder. I have tabs for different categories and within each tab are different size plastic sheets. I lucked out and actually found my binder at a thrift store for less than $2 and it was brand new, it had divider tabs already in side and various zippered compartments as well as a built in 3 file accordian (I keep my ads and coupons that need to be cut in these files). You can use any type of folder. i prefer zippered because my coupons are all protected and wont fall out if i drop my binder or something!

2-Begin by subscribing to your local paper or make sure to purchase the Sunday papers for their inserts. ALWAYS check the paper to make sure the inserts are in there. If you have the option to purchase from a stand vs the machine, I'd choose the stand, its easier to skim through the paper. Places will allow you to do this, just make sure to not leave the paper a mess...I always buy a local paper, because their ads are local and you will need ads to  compare prices and match coupons. I also buy  a larger city newspaper, LA Times, SF Chronicle etc. The coupon inserts are usually THICKER and at times a higher value than local. I will buy 1-2 local papers and 1-2 Bigger city papers, leaving me with 2-4 inserts each of Red Plum and Smart Source inserts.

3-ONLY BUY whats on sale and if you have a coupon for it. This is how you will be able to maximize your coupons. I usually go through the ads, circle what i want or need, then go through my binder to see if i have a coupon for that item. I organize my coupon into my small accordian which is sprted by store. (I have a small purse size accordian that is divided in to stores, where i store my coupons that i will use for that trip)

4-Check coupon printing sites for more coupons. You are allowed to print 2 coupons per computer and yes you will need to download apps to be able to print the coupons from. Check local blogs if you have any in your area. I belong to a coupon group call Central Coast Crazy Couponers and we too have a Facebook page. Local deals are posted as well as freebies or other tips and findings. Be sure to LIKE us if you havent already.
